OUR STORY
HOW IT STARTED
We swiped right in the fall of 2017. Lidia’s profile pic was her with Abbi and Ilana from the tv show Broad City. Becca also a fan, decided to break the ice with, “If you were stuck in an elevator with Abbi or Ilana, who would you choose?”
To which Lidia responded, “Abbi and I would totally spiral into anxiety, freaking out about everything that could go wrong and Ilana would probably hotbox the place and go off about the Illuminati. So... Lincoln, obviously.”
And here we are seven years later, there’s no one else we’d rather be stuck in an elevator with—though we’d still hope Lincoln shows up with snacks.
HOW IT WENT
July 5th, 2024, is a day we’ll never forget! Becca, with the help of some very sneaky friends, pulled off the perfect proposal during karaoke—Lidia’s happy place. What was supposed to be a “chill night out” turned into “hmm why don’t we do karaoke” night.
Lidia, blissfully unaware of everything going on was just happy to sing her rendition of “If It Makes You Happy”. Things of course took a turn when Sandy signed Becca and Lidia up for a Shania Twain duet. Becca, usually a karaoke spectator, acted incredibly upset (her and our friends definitely pulled out some Oscar worthy performances) but finally agreed to sing their song, “You’re Still the One.”
As they started singing, Lidia was completely in her element, unaware of what was about to happen. With friends already filming, she sang through to the final notes. Then, as the applause began, Becca pulled out a ring—right there, surrounded by cheers, cameras, and love, she asked Lidia to marry her.
And, of course, Lidia said YES (DUH)!
